Irvine of Drum
SUB SOLE SUB
UMBRA VIRENS
"Flourish in Sunshine
and Shade"
Drum Castle is located ten miles from the center of Aberdeen, Scotland. For centuries it was the seat of the chief of Clan Irvine. The castle and grounds were granted to Sir William de Irwyn in 1325 by Robert the Bruce as a reward for his long service as the king’s armor bearer/secretary. The castle and manor house remained in the possession of Clan Irvine until 1975, at which time it was turned over to the Historical Trust of Scotland.
