Joes Petrus Appel was born about 1678 in Baden, Germany. One of his sons was John Epplee, and he was born about 1720, also in Baden, and died after 1789 in Hanover, York County, Pennsylvania. He married Rosina about 1742 in Manheim, Pennsylvania. She was born about 1724 in York County, Pennsylvania, and also died there November 19, 1795. They had at least one child, and his name was Mathias Epley.

Mathias Epley was born about 1750 in Pennsylvania. He married first Anna Maria Ritter in Hanover, Pennsylvania. He married Christina Risidel about 1770. She was born about 1750 in Pennsylvania and died there after 1780.

  1. John Epleywas born July 25, 17 He died in 1841 in Tennessee.

Children of Mathias Epley and Christina Risidel were:

  1. Jacob Fritz Epleywas born in 1772 in York County, Pennsylvania. He died December 1850 in Logan County, Kentucky.
  2. Daniel Epleywas born in 1774 in York County, Pennsylvania. He died in August 1845 in Cannon County, Tennessee.
  3. Peter Epleywas born in 1775 in Pennsylvania, and died April 23, 1877 in Burke County, North Carolina.

Daniel Epley married Catherine Keebler March 10, 1800, in Lincoln County, North Carolina. She was born in 1781, and died April 12, 1836, in Cannon County, Tennessee. Daniel and Catherine Epley are buried in the Hopewell Cemetery in Cannon County, Tennessee.

  1. Polly Epleywas born December 1801 in North Carolina, and died July 29, 1884 in Mullin Mills, Texas.
  2. Daniel Epley, Jr. was born in 1806 in Lincoln County, North Carolina, and died December 14, 1860 in Hickory County, Missouri.
  3. John Epleywas born July 30, 1807 in Lincoln County, North Carolina, and died September 7, 1852 in Hickory County, Missouri.
  4. Sarah Epley, born in 1808 in Lincoln County, North Carolina.
  5. Anne Epleywas born January 27, 1810 in Lincoln County, North Carolina, and died July 4, 1885 in Williams Ranch, Mills County, Texas.
  6. George Epleywas born August 27, 1813 in Lincoln County, North Carolina, and died March 13, 1893 in Mullin Mills, Texas.
  7. David Epley, born in 1822 in Tennessee.

Daniel Epley, Jr. married (1) Alice Sally Brown March 29, 1823, in Greene County, Missouri. She died before 1845 in Missouri. Daniel then married (2) Eliza Alsop Beck December 13, 1848, in Benton County, Missouri. Alice Sally Brown and Eliza Alsop Beck are both buried in Preston, Missouri.

  2. Jane Epley, born in 1829.
  3. Sarah Ann Epley, born in 1830, and died in 1850 in Hickory County, Missouri.
  4. Delilah Epley, born in 1831 in Tennessee.
  5. Mahala Epley, born December 9, 1832, in Tennessee, and died August 17, 1908, in Carroll County, Arkansas.
  6. Francis Woodson Epley, born in 1840.
  7. Susan Epley, born in 1842.
  8. Josephus C. Epley, born December 24, 1846, in Preston, Hickory County, Missouri. He died March 29, 1929, in Denver, Carroll County, Arkansas.

The children of Daniel Epley and Eliza Beck were:

  1. Thomas B. Epley, born November 1849.
  2. Franklin P. Epley, born in 1854 in Hickory County, Missouri.

Josephus C. (Joe) Epley married Elizabeth Rebecca Erwin September 11, 1864. Joe Epley served in the Union Army during the Civil War, and married Elizabeth (1) while home on leave. She was born November 24, 1846, in Tennessee, and died March 13, 1911, in Denver, Carroll County, Arkansas. Josephus married (2) unknown after 1915. He married (3) Josephine N. Beck after 1915, daughter of David Beck and Sarah Trantham. He married (4) Margaret Funk after 1915. He married (5) Mary Hoyt after 1915.

Josephus Epley and Elizabeth Rebecca Erwin are buried next to each other in the Denver Cemetery, Denver, Carroll County, Arkansas. Joe and Elizabeth had the following children:
